THE BOAR’S HEAD THEATRE BRAND LOGO
ART DIRECTION • STRATEGY • BRANDING •LOGO • DESIGN
The Boar’s Head Theatre, a contemporary performance venue built on the historic site of the original Elizabethan playhouse, required a logo that balanced its rich heritage with its modern transformation. The client initially provided an AI-generated concept, which served as a reference point for the branding direction. During the design process, it became evident that this version did not fully align with the theatre’s evolving identity or the overall aesthetic of the space. To challenge the assumption that a literal boar’s head was necessary in the logo, Hypaspace developed a clean, type-based alternative, demonstrating that the name itself carried enough weight without relying on an illustrative symbol.
However, after further exploration, the final chosen design did incorporate a boar but with a refined, modern approach. Using clean lines, sharp angular edges, and a crisp, contemporary typeface, the logo was crafted to reflect the theatre’s state-of-the-art facilities while maintaining a connection to its historical roots. As Streets of Growth are the current custodians of the venue, the color palette was carefully selected to align with their branding, ensuring visual continuity and a cohesive identity.
The final result is a striking and sophisticated logo that captures the spirit of The Boar’s Head Theatre—honoring its past while embracing its role as a cutting-edge cultural and creative hub in Aldgate. This refined identity strengthens the theatre’s presence, making it instantly recognizable while supporting its mission to bring innovation and storytelling to new audiences.
